Destination Wedding During Hurricane Sandy

adam_courtney_wedslideshowTo begin, we could never repay the work that was done for us by Mark and Laura at Dreamer’s Travel, especially w/ all the twists and turns and drama associated w/ our wedding and honeymoon plans. It was always the dream of my fiance to be married on the beach, and as part of a trip to Jamaica, Mark and Laura set up a day of site visits of 3 properties in Montego Bay.

This may not be an option for all, but we’re very happy Mark encouraged us to do this as part of a pre-scheduled trip. And as Mark said, once we saw the Iberostar, we knew it was our place. As a self-employed business owner and my bride…being a bride…we had a lot of questions and were probably a handful at times. Mark and Laura were incredible while guiding us through the months of the process and showed patience with us at the times we needed it.

As it turned out, our departure day (Oct. 30th) coincided with the arrival of Sandy and as you can imagine, caused a great deal of stress for us, and I’m sure Mark and Laura. I spent 4 hours on and off of the phone w/ Mark on Sat the 28th. Through his experience, skillset and contacts, he was able to secure us airfare and lodging, to arrive 2 days early. For those of you who don’t know, to be married in Jamaica, you must be in the country for 48 hours before you are married…so you can understand our stress between the ceremony, guests and prepayments. As much of a challenge as it was to prepare and pack in only a few hours, it is even more impressive, what Dreamer’s was able to do for us in such a small timeframe.

Even after we were safely in Jamaica, Mark and Laura stayed in contact with our 19 guests (who had also booked through Dreamer’s) who were scheduled to leave Wed the 31st, while also keeping us in the loop as to their travel status.

Unfortunately, we were the couple that flies off for a destination wedding and gets forced inside by the weather. But this was still made wonderful, and the memory of seeing my bride walk down that grand staircase, is a memory I’ll never forget. As Mark said, the staff at the Iberostar are pros, and took care of every last need from our Welcome dinner for our guests, to our music, to our private reception.
Being married and spending 4 days with family and friends is an experience we will always cherish and besides my wife, the people I have to thank the most, are Mark and Laura at Dreamer’s Travel.
